INCREASED PENTRAXIN-3 CORRELATES WITH THE ACTIVITY OF THE NEOPLASTIC CLONE IN PRIMARY MYELOFIBROSIS

Doctors at MD Anderson have found that Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) is higher in plasma cells of people with Myelofibrosis compared to people without Myelofibrosis, and that there is a positive correlation between the level of mutated genes a person has (known as allele burden) and PTX3. This study helps us better understand the underlying biology of myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelofibrosis, which will shed light on how best to combat them.
